Some friends of mine are going to 'blast' the bottom for me before I sand and paint him again for the coming season. t^ Maybe you can rent one and do it yourself....just be careful..I'm not sure with this stuff,  :-\ I like you always reach out to the guys on here, they know an awful lot. It might save you some money to do it your self! Treating yourself it always nice too! Guys, wouldn't the sponsor(s) that detail boats do something like this?  :headscra:

I would Pm Kevin from Quigleys Im sure he knows someone. I seen ads for soda blasting/painting for $12 a foot on CL. Dont think you could do it yourself cheaper
Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Soda blasting is one of the best ways to strip multiple coats of bottom paint from gelcoat- it's just messy and capital-and labor-intensive. There's really no easy way but the soda does most of the work leaving the gelcoat relatively intact. Any osmotic blistering will be exposed and needs to be repaired to do the job right. Also expensive is the required multiple coats of epoxy barrier coat needed over the bare gelcoat after the blister repair and before traditional bottom paints. Al's price sounds low but probably includes nothing but soda blast. I think this is something where you get what you pay for so the cheapest guy may not generally be the best bet.

I can recommend a guy, he is not a sponsor here, but he blasted Ya Sista's A$$ real good, removing about 20 coats of ablative (or not-so-ablative?) paint. He did a fine job, showed up when he said he would, cleaned up after himself, and gave a nice discount for ca$$h. PM me for details.

Yeah....the blistering can really hurt if you have any....my buddy decided to go ahead with Soda Blasting.....found alot of blistering underneath....wound up being over 10 grand to repair it all.

But if you dont repair it it will keep rejecting the bottom paint  5hrug

Atlantic Green Pro is who I would use. Heard nothing but great reviews about him and have seen many pics of his work. Check out there website. I would NEVER attempt this job by yourself. If you don't know what your doing, you'll damage the glass.
