The once old is new again...
« on: December 12, 2012, 05:56:34 PM »
Well I guess I will be getting my fresh water license this year to fill in where surf fishing might be left to those that like to travel a bit more than I do.

Plus the yaks might get more use as well.

The reason I mention this is because once they start the replenishment stage for the beaches all that loose sand and bottom scraping will for sure mess up the Spring run.  I am still hoping that it will happen but I am not to optimistic at this point.

We'll see, but, I'm still going to flip for it this year.

Happy Surviving

I mix it up all the time Paul between fresh and Salt, I'm really jealouse of of my NJ brothers, there seems to be a lot more localized fresh water spots or maybe its because Jersey is smaller in size compared to Pa. There are a few lakes near by but every township wants to make a buck and charge you for a permit to launch a small boat in THEIR water rgmn even though you have a Pa license  t^

Thanks Trish.  I am looking forward to getting back onto some of the local lakes and some of the new ones that I have never fished.

This should be an interesting Spring and summer.

I'll be focusing more of my efforts to freshwater this coming year too. Not because of my prediction of this coming spring run/access, but because my son is 1 now and will need to start fishing before I know it.

That's great.  I started my daughter fishing early and she still likes to go now and then at age 22.

Looking forward to getting out but, I have to do some cleaning up of the reels for fresh water.  That should not take too long.

I've lived in Ocean Co. for about 6 years now and never tried freshwater although I grew up on it. I've got a lot to re-learn myself.

I'm really looking forward to some new places like the reservoir up in Monmouth County, lake Carasaljo, lake Shenandoah and lake Manetta.  Plus Lake Assenpink, Forge Pond and others in southern Ocean County.

I have not given up on surf fishing and it will always be my favorite but for now I have to think alternatives.

anyone that cares to venture out towards hunterdon county I'm pretty familiar with spruce run and round valley reservoirs and in warren county familiar with furnace lake and a little bit of knowledge with merril creek reservoir and mountain lakes.  just drop me a message and I can try and answer any questions you may have or share any info I have.
It is to be observed that 'angling' is the name given to fishing by people who can't fish.

when it's warmer out I usually end up at round valley around midnight.  better without the crowd especially in the summer.  still trying to figure out how to mount my pole and tackle bag on my motorcycle. lol

Do you have a sissy bar? I'm sure you could come up with something for the back of that... ;D The tackle part is easy, try to only bring what you absolutley need and put it in heavdy duty zip-locks...& wear stuff with lots of pockets!  thud
