From the "that's something you don't see every day" files:
We were out for a spin, tearing up the woods at 6Mile Run last night. Aside from some sloppy conditions on the way out, it was a beautiful ride. The highlight of the evening, without doubt, was during a hydration break next to one of the trailside fields:
As my eyes did adjust, and I look'd to the sky, what did appear, but a shooting star goneby! And another! And another!
Yup, meteors were screaming across the sky, seemingly in all directions. Very cool. Checked them out for a short while. The temp dropped, and our Camelbaks froze up. We were forced to pursue alternate hydration methods
but the trails firmed up too for the ride back.
Saw some Perseids a few years back, but this was WAY cooler. Reading about it today, it seems we were catching only the beginning of the shower; the peak wasn't supposed to be until like 2AM. Anyone else make a wish?
