Point Pleasant Tog fishing 12/18
« on: December 18, 2012, 05:46:21 PM »
Fished a NS out of Point today. Literally the only boat the went out.  I got there an hour early keeping my fingers crossed that enough would show up.  Capt of this boat is awesome and said he would eat up the cost and sail with 5. Thats right 5!.  Fortunatly, just as they were pushing off a couple cars pulled in and the boat left with 11.

Started off the day with green crab and put a quick 2 just barely keepers in the box.  Dropped a few here and there, pulled a couple shorts, not much happening.  Que the white leggers. Capt fires up the engines to make a shift and I get whacked.  Real nice fish on.  Couple cranks up, the fish made a run back to his house and I pulled the hook.  Damn!!  Make a shift and a couple roasters go in.  Make a move further south and 10 minutes in...thump thump resulted in a nice 5 lb fish.  Dropped back down into the same hole.  Thump thump, nice fight resulting in a healthy 8 lb fish.  Couple more shorts a few smaller keepers for the guy next to me and we headed for the barn. Nice day overall.

Very pleasant. Wind out of the west with a moderate swell and good strong current. No problem setting up on anchor but could get away with 8 oz easily in 70 ft. Occasional roller that would knock your beer can over if you weren't ready. Had to remove layers and was down to just two shirts. Caught a bit of a sun burn too

Nice report.

In May, on the Big Mohawk, went out with 4 people altogether for stripers  t^ Fishing was terrible, but the gesture will keep me on the boat forever. 4 customers, 2 mates, and the captain himself.
