This week is going to be cold with a chance of rain/snow on Monday, Thursday Night & Friday. Monday into Tuesday will bring a small, weaker Winter Storm with 1-2 inches possible for Northern/Northwestern NJ, with less than an inch to other areas, even rain along the coast and in Southern NJ. The next Winter Storm potential is Thursday into Friday. This could shape up to be a little stronger. I will keep you updated during the week on this storm. The area will see the lowest temperatures of the season, with possible records being broken. High temperatures will only make it into the mid to high 20's most of the week with 30's on Monday, Thursday & Friday. Lows will get down into the teens and even single digits for more interior locations. Winds will be brisk all week, making wind chills into the negatives. Water conditions will vary throughout the week by location. Monday and Thursday are being rated good right now for almost all locations. This is if the waters lay down from Sunday's winds for Monday and if the high moves out on time on Thursday. Small Craft Advisories and even Gale Warnings are probable Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday with winds to 40+ knots and seas to 5 feet inshore and 9 feet midshore. As always, with this time of the year, if you are looking to go out, recheck the forecasts within 8-12 hours and then again before you leave. Surf conditions will be moderate if you are ok with gusty west north westerly winds. Wave heights will be 0-2 feet all week with 1-2 feet on Friday.
High pressure will dominate the area most of the week. A secondary cold front will move through the area on Monday Evening bringing the coldest air mass to the region so far this Winter. High pressure will continue through Friday when low pressure from the west will begin to influence the region.
