The NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife is informing the public that during the night of February 6, vandals illegally entered Sparta Mt. Wildlife Management Area by cutting through a chained gate and caused significant damage to three pieces of heavy equipment. The equipment is owned by private operators who were contracted to do rare species habitat conservation work for the Division.
Anyone with information about this crime is encouraged to call the Operation Game Thief (OGT) tip line at 1-855-OGT-TIPS (1-855-648-8477).
The identity of OGT callers is fully PROTECTED and callers can remain anonymous. Anonymous callers will be assigned a unique number and will be instructed how to call back for updates on the investigation. If the information leads to an apprehension and conviction, a cash reward is possible.
