3 blade vs 4 blade prop

  From what I have read 4 blade seems to have some advantages over 3 blade.  Anyone here go from 3 to 4 and what is your opinion? Thanks

I have used both and know Capts. that have used both three and four blades props. Keep in mind the prop is designed and matched to the boat and motor,its weight, and its purpose.Some examples are Work Boats,speed,cruise,and racing type boat.
Two other issues come into concideration:Diameter and Pitch of the prop in use.Comparing apples to apples is not always clear when two different props are reviewed. It all depends on the use and needed results. Over the years I have used props with different diameter and pitch (increased or decreased)for a specific result.

it all depends.. 4 blade will give u better control, hole shots, etc.. 3 blade will give you more speed.

four blade bides more water , three blade will give more top end.

I don't know much as ya'll already know..  but I will say that I have a three blade and as long as I don't have a ton of people, I def get from one side of the RB to the other quite quickly and nicely!

Ahhh Trish you have found out the secret to boating....if its not broken don't fix it.If the three blades get the boat from East of Raritan Bay to West of Raritan Bay I say keep the boat and the three blade prop too.
