Had Schultzie, T-Bartolone out for an overall good day. Cast netted a ton of nutz at the marina at day break. Loaded the live well. Plan was to be prepared for the return of the Weaks. Fog thick leaving Highlands. Decided to drift the Shrewsbury. Marked bass on 5 drifts. Two hits/miss. One short 22 inch. Erased the skunk from last Tuesday's search for weakies. Fog lifted, headed out around the hook... seas flat and easy. Stopped at Scotland for a touch of small c-bass mostly on squid and fresh clam strips. Moved to mud dump with the usual fleet anchored. Raised c-bass on every drift mostly just shy of keeper. Boated 3 nice fat fluke and lost count on the amount of c-bass. Also, had a few bergall. Tried all combinations along with peanuts, squid, bergal fillet, etc. Two 8-10 lb blues added to the mix. Bleed and filleted on the spot. Bagged and iced (they really taste excellent if handled this way). Ran out of 1-2 lbs of squid. Switched to chartreuse 3" minnow gulp on both hi/lo. That did the trick and should have used it earlier. The larger c-bass could not resist. Finished up shortly after 2:30. Keeper count 5 c-bass, 2 blues. Countless short c-bass, 3 fluke (all nice fish), handful of bergall. Have plenty of nutz vacuum sealed for the freezer for the run weakies when the decide to return. Seabass for dinner was outstanding!
Good fishin everyone!
