all of the above, situation dictating of course. with the colder water, make your lure retrives nice and slow.

for the clams, stay away from frozen, use fresh and what you have left over after the day shuck and salt them with "kosher" salt in a tupperware container of sort. you can freeze them then if you prefer but you dont need to, and have heard of guys keeping salted clams in the back of thier truck all summer.

somedays i have had salted clams outfish fresh, dont know why but it happens.

Hi Fishon42,

Exactly what Reel Time said.

When the adult bunker show up in May/June, throw LARGE wood plugs (like the ones everyone line up to get at the Asbury Park Fishing Flea Market).

A shamless plug for a friend Gary Soldati...

Look at hos website ...

Hi Ped579,

I know ...

The idea is more important than his lures. Big lures can be had in local Bait and Tackle at $10-15.

Good point and shop around,

Capt. Ed

Yeah, few days ago i bought a few large rubber shad, for about 9$ a piece. Spent like 60$ just on hooks, lures, weights, etc. Id rather spend all the money once, then spend 12$ 10 times everytime i go down the shore.
 ;) ;)

Just started to re outfit my box after a year and a half of no fishing there is a lot of stuff to throw out.

I will be trying the sliding sinker lock sounds like a good idea.  Picked up two types Gamakatsu 5/0 with an offset hook and a bunch of Eagle claw 6/0 short shank with no offset with the sliding sinker lock.

I usually use sea clams all season with lures when I get tired and have to move around.

All on IBSP

ped, before you start using those hooks, take'em back and get bigger,, for the Gamakatsu octopus hooks i use size 8/0 and have absolutly no problems with them, and you can put a really nice bunker chunk onto it.

Thanks Reel Time...I will try the 8/0's also.  Like I mentioned earlier I have to replace just about everything in the box.

Boy is there a lot of new stuff out there... :o
