Stand alone rod rack
« on: September 26, 2007, 08:55:28 AM »
Does anyone have an extra or no someone who makes the CHEAP?

I have a round stand alone now to store my rods in (in the house), but out of room and need another free standing fishing rod rack.

I do not want to store my rods in garage since garage is shared space with my neighbor and I do not have the wall space in the house for a hanging rack.

I also do not want to pay $150 like the ones Cabelas has or evvn $100 on ebay. Yep, I am cheap.

Okuma makes a very cheap plastic rod rack.  The quality is ok, price is about $25.  I put in a link only to show the rod rack, not to promote the site selling it.  You should be able to find them locally.  http://www.eangler.com/product/477846299.htm

You should check it out to see if it fits you need before purchasing one.

I don't know how handy you are, but you may consider making one yourself.. It can be as simple as attaching pieces of PVC tubing  to a milk crate or large wooden box.. Or as elaborate as the large swiveling circular rack my pop made for me.. (Way above the possibilities of my skill set) I can send you a pic of my rack if you're interested in trying to make one.. Just a thought..

Joe, that looks like it could work. have to find a place that doesn't charge as much for shiping the thing as it actually costs.

Mboy, if you have a hack saw and tape measure you can make your own out of PVC piping.  I made one myself.  You can make it to fit as many rods as you want.  Several different ways to go.  Here are two pics I found on the bassbarn site.
Mine is similar to the first pic, but mine has a bit more space between the pipes to fit my reels.

I'm hearing no Parsippany PAL show this (next) year.

That looks great Joe, but I do not have rom in the Apt for something that size. Need it compact.

Fishinfool probably isn't going to be happy with ANOTHER fishing rod rack in the house as it is :)

I found the Okuma for $27.07 Shipped @ boatersland.com, so I just ordered it.

 Thanks all.

Yea, it was a nice small show. Picked up alot of teasers and jigs from smaller sized vendors that couldn't afford the fees at the larger shows.

However the upside is that I'll now be able to attend the Hi-Mar flea market as those 2 shows were usually held the same day(s).

Cheap. Then go with the Okuma racks. I've got eight in my garage, everyone says it looks like a tackle shop. ( Got to post pix one day ) Check for them on Amazon or E-Bay. Very cheap shipped right to your door. <'((((><
I've spent most of my life fishing, the rest I've just wasted     <'((((><
