Hunter 2- 6/4/13 Evening - Raritan Bay
« on: June 05, 2013, 05:57:37 AM »
Jersey Joe and I made a quick unplanned trip to enjoy the rest of a beautiful day Fluking the Raritan Bay.  We pulled out of Keyport at 6pm and head over towards the 19 in the Reach.  There was a slight west breeze and the start of the outgoing tide made for a nice drift. The bay was spoty with red algae. The first fish was a postage stamp Fluke followed by a 19".  More shorts came aboard along with Sea Robbins and cocktail Blues. I tried a few different spots with the same results. We pulled the plug at sunset and were greeted by thousands of No see um bugs to make for a very uncomfortable cleanup. :P
For a 2 1/2 hr trip we wound up with 1 keeper, over a dozen shorts and a bunch of cocktail blues.
    Good Luck,,   Eddie chrz

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Sounds like a perfect way to close the day..on the boat, watching the sun set, a cold one, dinner in the cooler.
Now if we could get rid of the no see ems.
