Happy Carp of July!
« on: July 05, 2013, 07:16:09 AM »
So yesterday I decided to go down to the south branch river to do some carp fishing. I got down to river at one the river was still high and muddy but it wasn't moving fast. My past experiences I have done better carp fishing when the water is muddy. So I get all set up I am using my two light fluking rods. They both have ten LB test braid with ten lb fluro leader. About 20 min after I get my line wet I see six canoes coming around the river bend. I am thinking to myself great there making so much noise I won't get a hit for awhile. Not a second later BAM! I am hooked up! Took me a few min to get him to the shore line and of course now I have a audience watching slipping and sliding in the water trying to grab this fish. Finally got him in he was about 15 lb. Things calm for a half hour then I see another canoe coming around the bend. Canoes were my good luck charm that day because as soon as I saw the canoe I hooked up again. This fish took off down river screaming my line out. I almost got spooled when I was reeling in my other rod. I end up chasing her down the river. I could tell this one was bigger I couldn't even move her. Finally fought her to the shore it had to be dam close to twenty pounds. Bout fifteen min later I caught a 2 lb channel cat on my corn. It was getting close to three and I was getting ready to leave when wham my rod gets slammed. She was about the same size as the last one. I couldn't have asked for a better Fourth of July. 3 big carp and a nice cat fish! God bless America!!!!!!!!

I gotta get out there sometime soon, it's right around the corner.

Fishing Sandy Hook and anywhere I can get on a boat.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife sells all of my fishing tackle for what she thinks I paid for it!
