Cobia in NJ?
« on: June 26, 2013, 12:05:16 PM »
Anyone ever get Cobia in our waters?  Heard a report of cobia caught down somewhere around sea isle city.  Didn't think they came up past the cheasepeake bay.  Also, heard that it was caught in the surf.  anyone, anyone?

We saw a pair of cobia following a sea turtle a couple years ago. They didnt want what we had to offer and took off once we got too close

I'm not sure how often they are caught or if there are any boats that actually target them, but they are in our waters. If I remember correctly the Fisherman Magazine had a story on a nice one caught last year.  5hrug But I could be wrong... thud I caught a 40+ out in Florida one year! Made the paper and everything! A trip I will never forget!  msfsh msfsh

last year of my fluking reef, 3 of these came up to the surface.. Well, about 6 feet down, but the water was crystal clear.  I didn't have proper equipment to get them, but they were there.
Fish out of Toms River NJ.
