Hunter 2 -Wednesday 6,26,13
« on: June 27, 2013, 10:39:22 AM »
Pulled out of Keyport at 7:30am with my brother John along with his friends Mick and Mike. These Guys wanted Stripers but I had my doubts. The wind against tide for fluking was going to be terrible until the tide change around 11am so we trolled some Bunker schools and bird action for Bluefish just inside the hook. We caught and released a few so I moved to deeper water to troll more outside the hook and waited for the tide change.
No action on the troll outside so we switched over to Fluking on the channel edge. Every drift produced 3 to 5 shorts. Mick brings in a keeper. Several drifts later with only shorts coming over the side and the high heat and sun pounding on us we moved to the outside of Earl. Mick lands 1 more keeper and many more shorts and a few Sea robbins came up. Mike and I each landed a croaker fish 5hrug  I never caught one of those before. t^
dragging bait produced much more then bucktailing.
Back at the marina at 3:30 for a quick cleanup in very hot 98 deg heat. A cold beer tasted great at the fillet table chrz  Spent the rest of the day poolside. t^
  Good Luck everyone. t^   Eddie

Nice report Eddie!  clp Bait seems to be the consenses with the fluking right now. I hope the weather holds out for the weekend. I'm really looking forward to going...as I am sure many of us are. Can you eat the croaker?  :headscra:

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.
