6/28 Made a run with Capt Don Jr and Nick Bizzle for a short 3 hour scouting. We had the goods minus the Kellies. Everyone we spoke to had none. Ran to the muscles and Nick showed us the way. Put three in the tank, no major size but some nice fillets. Poked around and checked out another area that produced life. Bunker strip bait tipped with the gulp and or sand eel worked its magic. Headed back to the dock for a quick clean up with 7 good fish. Tossed back about 25-30 shorts. We'll take it
6/29 Brother Jay and his buddies Chip and Dave wanted in on the action. We originally planned for Sunday but the window looked better when checking it out on Thursday night. Planned on an early start but had to make two critical stops prior to launch..... Kellies
, and an introduction of the boys to a Slater breakfast special. Porkroll, Scrambled egg and Cheeze on the hard roll. Talk about a Dagwood. One is enough to feed a small tribe so we split two. We motored off and hit the Knoll with a cranky wind and tide bumping up against it. Jay struck early and often. Put two in the pen and dropped a good one. The wind shift challenged us trying to get a routine drift down. We hung out here for an hour or so and left with Two in the tank and about a dozen shorts, some monster skates and a few birds and dogs. Slipped out of sight of the fleet and hung up on Route 22 and began to get what we were looking for. Constant action for the next 3.5 hours. It was bumpy to say the least as we started the parade. Dave was looking like Casper but stayed at the rail with a few dry heaves interspersed. Meanwhile Chip put his noodle stick through the paces striking a couple of nice fish on the Pink clouser. Sweet
Jay continued to put on a demonstration.... High hooking and dumping a real nice 5.5 Lber into the penalty box. I finally found a rythmm getting some good pokes with a nice 4lber and Dave final gave up the Slater Special. What a trooper. Never complained and just fished. We called it quits at 1:00 as wind just took over and there was no holding with 8OZ spros. Jay's going to stop at Victories Secret for some more Pink
Now that's the ticket....
Great day in pretty crummy conditions.... Ended with 13 keeps and an easy 50 in total. The Boys are welcome back anytime.
Thanks for the Scout trip too.. Don and Nick.
