Wow!!! I gonna think twice before trying to go surf fishing before a thunderstorm.
Why can't we fish 5 days a week and work 2!

"So far this year, nine people have died from lightning strikes across the country, according to the National Weather Service. Three of the fatalities were men who were fishing when they were struck."

This just so happened while walking off from surf fishing but the fact is it can happen anywhere while holding onto a graphite rod just be aware of that.
