Sandy Project Help Remap the Northeast
« on: July 11, 2013, 08:08:04 AM »
In response to the need for updated mapping, Navionics has partnered with the Marine Trades Association of New Jersey, West Marine and other local businesses to organize the Sandy Project, a 3-day event to be held July 19 – 21 in order to remap affected areas along the New Jersey coast. The Sandy Project coordinates local boaters in gathering sonar logs and other cartographic data. These new data sets combined with Navionics other mapping sources will help build updated charts that can be seen in about one week after the event within the SonarCharts™ layer on Navionics products.

Fishing Sandy Hook and anywhere I can get on a boat.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife sells all of my fishing tackle for what she thinks I paid for it!

Sorry, but I don't think I want to rely on local boaters, or other unreliable sources for mapping,,, especially after hearing the class of boaters we have out there on the vhf. thd
