Montauk Cod
« on: July 17, 2013, 08:40:41 AM »
Had our annual two night codfest. Steamed out Sunday night 125 miles or so, fished the Nantucket wrecks (including the Andrea Doria)

First drop Monday Morning and lock and load, I filled a 120 qt cooler to the brim in two hours, all 10-15 lb fish.

Rest of the day was a good pick, three of us filled another 120 qt.

Steamed back toward cox's ledge and anchored somewhere
Squid were around at night for those who wanted them

Cox's was very slow. Made a few moves picked a few then it was dogfest with the greyhounds everywhere.
Back to the dock early and no traffic home.

Biggest fish 25 lbs with quite a few real close in weight.

Filets pretty clean, not many worms. Time get some oil for a fish fry!

Sounds like a nice trip.  t^
Fishing Sandy Hook and anywhere I can get on a boat.

My biggest fear is when I die my wife sells all of my fishing tackle for what she thinks I paid for it!

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.

Don't freeze fish, had the family over for a fish fry, friends picked up 10 lb bags and I am cooking the last bit today for a family graduation party.

Now, if only I could get a load of yellowfin!
