Silicon Skirts on Bucktails VS Deer Hair

I started fishing more gulp recently on my bucktails and teasers and noted how the action of the gulp was inhibited by the hair on the lead head.
I took some lead heads without hair and added some silicon skirts usualy used for freshwater bass baits and then added the gulp.

The action was fantastic and the fish loved it
A wider profile on the teaser, great action and you can see the gulp

My winter tying will be less this winter and ill be making freshwater skirts
Has anyone else tried this?

yes Ive used the 2.5" silicone breather skirts from barlow

Silicon skirts can be made as well with an inexpensive tool sold at Barlows
If you are going to use alot as I do it will bring down the cost
There are many places on the net that you can purchase lead heads without bucktail

Bottom line is that this works. Action is significantly better then a bucktail and Gulp action is enhanced. Had 2 fluke on immediately after first drop

 That's a good idea Ross.  I've toyed with that type of skirt years ago with good results. The one that Big Al posted the link to should work really well. I know the Terminator Quick Skirts are terrific for this purpose as you can put them on and take them off easily without them falling apart.

The silicon stands up to many big fluke bites and if they get bad you just put on another one
The real money is in putting them on a teaser 1/2 ounce ball jig with a gulp.
The strikes are tremendous

I've seen guys starting to use squid body's also, ones that you would troll with.

 Cut the tip off them and slide'em on the lead head.

This is exactly what I just started doing on my 6 and 8 oz jigs.   4 1/2 in squids with swing hook and stinger... Works too. Its way too much bucktail to tie on jigs that big. Did well with them last Thursday......
    But I have been thinking of the silicone skirts too.  Always thought they would be too small.
