Ortley Beach 10/6 AM
« on: October 06, 2007, 12:39:42 PM »
Hi All,

Boy is the site slow right now, I timed our 3 times just to get to the forum page, not good.

Anyway, I hit the beach around 9AM today to fish both sides of low tide NADA.  Used all top water plugs and a couple of divers nothing.

The only thing being caught was a gentleman using clams and he was catching Robins.

The birds were working in real tight to the beach so I tried the sloughs NADA.  The fog finally lifted around 11:00 or so and the beach started to load up with bathers, It was time to leave.  The water was still too warm.  I was in up to my waist in shorts and it was comfortable.  I guess the fish just like that cooler water off shore more.

Happy Catching

Paul

Nice report Ped.  The water temp is back up to 72 degrees now.  The stripers and blues are going to stay put until the water temp drops.  That is one of natures signals to them letting them know that it is time to head south.

Once we start getting some cooler nights the fish will start their exodus south.  I can't wait for that to happen.   t^

I am going to try and get out this evening for a couple of hours maybe in Ortley or I might try IBSP after the crowds leave.  That is if the wife goes.
