Rippin Lip 9/12
« on: September 12, 2013, 07:42:05 PM »
left the dock around 8. Motored out to the tip of the hook. Started our first drift with a robin, 2 sea bass, and snapper. Headed out to the middle of the sh channel. Nothing. Went further out and was met with growing waves and strong wind. Drifted along at about 2.5 mph. Picked up about a dozen sea bass up to 15" all to be returned till a later date. Started heading in. Was getting worked over by the waves. Got to the candle sticks and the bay was calm. made another drift there only to hear the thunder in the distance. Checked the radar and started back to the dock. First at nice casual pace until it started to lightning right over the amo pier. Then full throttle. Made it back just in time to run into the boat house as it started to pour. Waited it out. Pops was ready to get the truck. I said " we still got a couple hours. After the storm blew over, ran back out to the tip of the hook. First drift, kept getting the tails bitten off of the gulp. Must have wasted about 8pcs. Pops starts reeling in his line thinking he caught a t-shirt until it shook its head. Nope its something alive at the other end. Pulls up a nice 6 lb fluke. Only keeper we got for the day.
