Reel McCoy II report 9/21/2013
« on: September 21, 2013, 05:49:51 PM »
Today was my last day to fish for fluke before the season comes to an end.  Reports were not good but I decided to give it a try anyway. Met my friend Kevin at the dock at 6:45 and off we went. Tried SH channel, Scotland area, Mud Buoy, Rattlesnake, Rocks, reef and Flynn's.  Were caught a bluefish, Sea Bass (one bragging size)and some Sea Robins. Not a fluke to be found.  Wind picked up quickly after noon and we packed it in about 1:15.
This was the first time this season where I did not manage to get at least one keeper.
I am happy to be back in the water and fishing again.  I predict that next week the CBs get lock-jaw and we will be catching keeper size fluke on our clam baits.

Good try, Dan. I'd be following Ron and Fisherman. His striper reports are looking good already.

Nice try.  If I were you I'd take Fred's advice.  Skip the seabass and go right to stripers. t^

We caught 4 big sea bass yesterday while fluking on the Monger...like 5 lbers...I think there are some around...I had a jumbo and had to give it the toss back :'(

I'll be on the Monger next Friday for the sea bass opener and I'll let you guys know...
