Fished a spot that has been on my to do list for years. It was an okay day. I ended up with 3 small seabass and 1 oyster toadfish in about 2 hours. I did lose more rigs and sinkers than I could count though. Snag on every cast, sometimes my line would pop and sometimes I'd get my line back. I was using sandworms on two rods. One had a hi/low rig with small size 6 hooks for some small bottom fish and another had a 2/0 hook with a whole worm on a fishfinder for what I hoped to be a small striper.  2 of the seabass were caught on the hi/low. The remaining seabass and oyster toadfish were caught on the 2/0 hook with a whole sandworm.

The oyster toadfish was a surprise. I have never caught one before. I was just reeling in my line to check the bait and when I bring it up I see what I think is seaweed on the hook. To my surprise it is a small 2.5 inch oyster toadfish. This has to be a new record for me. Smallest fish caught on biggest hook.

A little later I'm reeling in a seabass on the 2/0 hook and "snap", no not my line but my reel handle. I had to hand reel in about 30 yards of line to get the seabass in.

This was one interesting trip with great scenery. Now just have to make a trip to the tackle shop and empty my wallet.

Nice scenery.  Those oyster crackers are nasty! :P

Sorry about your reel.  Call Abu Garcia 1(800)228-4272 they should be able to help you with a new handle for it.

Nice report, thanks~ t^  Good luck with the reel too.  I hear ya bout the tackel shop. Seems that no matter how much you already have, there is always room for some more. ;D

perhaps an old trick from the sweetwater; try rigging weedless from that spot? May help minimize the snags?
