striper question

This has been a question that keeps coming up during many conversations about fishing and fish behavior, hope we get a little clarification on this.
We all know that the Stripers hit the bay(Raritan) in the spring. Do they do the same in the fall?
What re they feeding on?
Are they as aggressive in fall as they are in spring.?
What water temp is best for good daytime fishing/trolling, etc?

spring is clams, and worms.. fall is eels and bunker as for bait.  Spring has been a better run then fall recently.

Optimum water temp is between 55*&65* with the lower avoidance temp under 50 .Please don't beat me up ,and tell me that you've caught base at 45* water temp .I have also ,these are bass preferred temp's .

fall definately bunker or eels , clams will work but not the best option, also blood worms. The spring action is usually more steady with a lot more schoolie sized bass. The fall tends to produce bigger bass at sometimes fewer numbers. Fishing outside of a creek mouth or on a river is also a good choice for the fall. Also i seem to have better results at night in the fall and first light in the spring.

Also trolling umbrella rigs with tubes to simulate sand eels works great. When you find the school jigging with Ava's or crippled herring lures works well.
