A mostly settled week this week, but there will be a cold front moving through around Thursday.  It will be dark an hour earlier this week, as we move into the heart of fall and winter.  Sunny with some clouds and dry conditions through Wednesday Night.  Wednesday Night will bring some additional clouds and chances of rain/showers with higher chances on Thursday Day and then lower chances Thursday Night, eventually clearing out for Friday.  Friday will sunny skies again.  Temperatures will really vary this week from below average to above average.  Cooler temperatures will start the week with warmer temperatures midweek and then average temperatures on Friday.  Highs will vary from the 40’s to the 70’s with lows in the 20’s to the 50’s.  Cooler temperatures will be towards the north with more mild temperatures along coastal and southern areas.  Winds will be gusty on Monday around 10-15 mph in places and even higher along the coast in the morning, then light to moderate through Thursday, when they will increase again through Friday.  Water conditions will start off cautious in the morning with winds diminishing Sunday Night and seas subsiding into Monday.  Small Craft Advisories are still possible tomorrow, but conditions look to improve throughout the day, with Bays and Rivers first and northern areas followed by ocean waters and areas to the south. Tuesday and Wednesday conditions look good for all locations with cautious to hazardous conditions returning on Thursday and Friday.  Westerly winds ahead of a front and pressure gradient will gust to 30 knots with seas to 8 feet on the ocean.  Winds and seas will begin to lessen late Friday, hopefully settling for the weekend.  Surf and beach conditions will be good to ok.  Some gusty winds on Monday and then again on Thursday and Friday with some rougher surf and wave heights 2-4 feet.  The westerly component will keep the surf conditions calmer than out on the ocean and conditions are not likely to hamper fishing this week.  Just be careful in the surf and on jetties where waves will kick up from the west.  Water temperatures are not changed much, a few degrees warmer in most places.  The colder air moving in this week will drop temperatures again.  UV Index will be Low to Moderate with 1-3/15.

Canadian High Pressure will move into the region Sunday Night and pass by the north through Monday. The high should be over New England on Tuesday or Wednesday. A cold front is then forecast to move through the area later Thursday with a high pressure system building into the region on Friday and Saturday.

The weekend looks sunny and dry with 50’s and 60’s for highs and 30’s and 40’s for lows.  Water and surf conditions look good, with the potential for some residual seas on Saturday from the Thursday/Friday blow.  Other than that, nothing is standing out at this point for the weekend

Have a great week!

Good morning!  A cold start with near freezing or subfreezing temperatures, including some teens in northwestern NJ.  Sunny with a few clouds and it will continue to be sunny with increasing clouds today becoming partly to mostly cloudy.  Dry conditions today with no rain in the forecast.  High temperatures will only get into the mid 40’s to low 50’s, with those upper 40’s and low 50’s occurring in southern and coastal areas; the majority of the state will be in the 40’s today!  Overnight lows will be in the upper 30’s to low 40’s with mid to upper 20’s in northern areas.  Winds will be northeast  then east today around 5-10 mph inland.  Coastal areas will see 10-15+ mph today.

Water conditions are cautious with Small Craft Advisories still in effect for Sandy Hook to Montauk and Delaware including Lower Delaware Bay.  SCA’s will continue through noon for northern waters and until midnight for southern waters providing conditions continue as expected.  Winds are gusting in excess of 25 knots with seas 4-6 feet on the ocean.  Conditions will slowly progress today, with winds diminishing by tonight and seas recovering and subsiding.  Raritan Bay will have northeast winds 10-15 knots with gusts to 20 knots diminishing to 5-10 knots late today with seas 1-2 feet subsiding to 1 foot or less.  Barnegat Bay will have north-northeast winds 10-15 knots becoming east-northeast in the afternoon and then east tonight at 7-10 knots with seas 1 foot or less.  Delaware Bay will have northeast winds 15-20 knots with gusts to 25 knots, diminishing to 10-15 knots late with seas 2-4 feet.  Inshore ocean waters will have northeast winds 15-20 knots with gusts to 25 knots becoming east tonight at 10-15 knots with gusts to 20 knots possible with sea 4-6 feet at 7 seconds.  Midshore to Offshore waters will have northeast winds 15-25 knots becoming east tonight with seas 4-7 feet at 7 seconds.

Surf and beach conditions are ok to good.  Winds will be gusty today from the northeast at 15-20 knots with gusts to 25 knots.  Surf is rougher with wave heights 2-4 feet with a 3-4 foot east-northeast at 7 seconds.  Winds will diminish some tonight with east winds 10-15 knots with gusts to 20 knots possible with wave heights 1-3 feet.  Surf temperatures are in the low to mid 50’s.  UV Index is Low to Moderate at 2-3/15.

Have a great Monday!

Good morning!  Not as cold as yesterday, with not many subfreezing temperatures this morning.  Temperatures have warmed into the 40’s and 50’s already across the state.  There is a mix of sun and clouds with continuing to be partly cloudy to mostly cloudy today.  It will remain dry today with no rain in the forecast.  Highs will be in the upper 40’s to upper 50’s with overnight lows in the upper 30’s to low 40’s.  Light south wind today 10 mph or less.

Water conditions are rated good.  Amazing what one day can do.  All Small Craft Advisories have been cancelled, winds are calm, less than 10 knots  and seas are around 3-4 feet and recovering on the ocean.  Raritan Bay will have southeast winds 5-10 knots with seas 1 foot or less.  Barnegat Bay will have east-southeast winds 5-10 knots with seas 1 foot or less.  Delaware Bay will have east winds 10-15 knots (not verifying right now) becoming 5-10 knots late and then shifting to the southeast tonight with seas 2 feet then 1-2 feet tonight.  Inshore ocean waters will have east to southeast winds around 10 knots with a few higher gusts to possible becoming 5-10 knots this afternoon with seas 3-4 feet at 6-8 seconds.  Midshore to Offshore will have east to southeast winds 7-14 knots with seas 3-4 feet at 6-8 seconds.

Surf conditions are improving from ok to good today.  Winds will be from the east/southeast around 10 knots or less with some gusts possible in the 10-15 knot range.  Winds will diminish throughout the day.  Surf is normal with wave heights 1-2, some 1-3 footers in there with a 2-3 foot east swell at 6-8 seconds.  The surf is recovering nicely.  Surf temperatures are in the low to mid 50’s, with some upper 50’s still across southern waters.  UV Index is Low to Moderate at 2-3/15.

Have a great day!

Good morning!  A colder start this morning with sunny skies and a few clouds, more cloudy across northwestern NJ.  Northwestern NJ will see decreasing clouds this morning and afternoon and then increasing clouds for the entire state becoming mostly cloudy to cloudy tonight.  There is a chance of rain tonight through tomorrow.  High temperatures will be in the low to mid 60’s.  Overnight lows will be in the mid to upper 50’s with upper 40’s across northern areas.  Steady winds will be light out of the southeast at 5-10 mph, but gusts to 20 mph are possible.

Water conditions are good for today.  There are Small Craft Advisories for late tonight through Friday.  Today will have light to moderate winds with some gusts to 20 knots likely and seas 2-3 feet.  Raritan Bay will have south winds 5-10 knots becoming 10-15 knots late tonight with seas 1 foot or less becoming 1-2 after midnight.  Barnegat Bay will have south winds 5-10 knots becoming 10-15 knots tonight with seas around 1 foot.  Delaware Bay will have east winds at 5 knots becoming south today at 5-10 knots with gusts to 20 knots increasing to 10-15 knots with gusts to 20 knots late tonight, with seas 1-2 feet becoming 2-3 feet tonight.  Inshore ocean waters will have south winds 5-10 knots with gusts to 20 knots gradually increasing becoming southwest tonight 10-15 knots then 15-20 knots with seas 2-4 feet becoming 3-5 feet tonight at 9 seconds.  Midshore to Offshore waters will have east winds 5-10 knots becoming south in the afternoon then 10-15 knots tonight then southwest 15-20 knots with seas 2-5 feet becoming 3-6 feet tonight at 9 seconds.

Surf and beach conditions are good today becoming ok to cautious late tonight.  South winds 5-10 knots with gusts to 20 knots possible today becoming southwest late tonight 10-15 knots and then 15-220 knots by tomorrow.  Surf is normal today, wave heights 1-3 feet with a 2-3 foot east swell at 9 seconds.  Surf temperatures are in the low to mid 50’s.  UV Index is Low to Moderate at 2-3/15.

Have a great day!!
