Got a late yesterday with my buddy Adam since I was coming off of nightwork. Hit the dock, loaded the boat, started her and off we went. Hit 3000RPM+ and she began backfiring.... Lifted the cover, looked around and
. Called Tommy who seems to be my on-call, personal mechanic anymore.... Tommy says "it's a crossed plug wire". Sure enough it was! I had pulled some plugs during my last fiasco when I checked the motor to see if it was hydrolocked. Off we go, running great.
Headed North we stopped at some birds and nada... Further North by the SRI we noticed a larger group of birds and marked bait and some fish. Down went jigs and up came weakfish in the 12"-13" range and peanut bunker size bluefish. Tried there for a bit without anything larger. Pushed North stopping at life but, same result with the small weakies and blues. Eventually made it to the rocks where we trolled for a bit and headed back in.
We didn't even think of hitting the mud hole for the monster blues. Oh well, that's fishing. Looks like I might be out again next Friday... or earlier if I can.
