Teasers for Striped Bass
« on: October 09, 2007, 07:47:18 PM »
I would like to tie some teasers for striped bass for surf fishing. Anyone have any techniques on tying them or were to get the supplies? I have not caught a bass off the surf as of yet and I can't wait. FYI got a surf report for today at sandy hook, A blue fish blitz hit the surf around 7:00am lasted about 30 min. had a few albacore mixed in with a least one being landed. Thanks for the help guys.

Devil, I don't have any leads on getting supplies, but in the mean time, you can go to pretty much any bait and tackle shop down the shore and buy a teaser rig pre-made.  It consists of line with a dropper loop and a teaser hook attached to the dropper loop.  There is a swivel on one end to attach your running line and a snap on the other for your lure.

Until you get supplies, you can use the store bought ones to hold you over.  The best colors I have found, in order, white, black, yellow.  Others may have had different luck with other colors.

I recently started getting stuff from Shark River MO.. they are great!! Great prices and super fast shipping..They don't seem to have too much in the way of fly tying materials however.. While I haven't worked there for over 10 years, I must say that Bob Atticks at Sportsmen's Center in Bordentown NJ still maintains one of the best selections of tying materials around.. And as far as other mail-order souces go, Cabela's has  a lot of materials also.
