The weekend is going to be wet with gusty winds and elevated seas. Saturday and Sunday will see high chances of rain and rain showers. Upwards of 3-4 inches of rain is possible across the state over the next 3 days. Skies will be mainly cloudy with some breaks and sun, but rain will be the main story. Flooding is possible and likely with the forecast precipitation amounts. River and stream flooding, as well as localized and flash flooding is possible. Be aware for these and if you live near rivers make sure to check out the Middle Atlantic River Forecast Center website for additional forecasts http://www.erh.noaa.gov/marfc/ . Minor coastal flooding is possible as well, mainly on Sunday. With high lunar tides and a strong onshore flow on Sunday, high tides could be pushed even higher and bring some minor coastal flooding. Temperatures will be much more seasonal. High temperatures will be in the 40’s and 50’s with lows in the 30’s and 40’s. These mild temperatures could bring some fog, especially on Friday Night and Saturday across much of the state. Water conditions may settle for some time on Saturday, but Cautious conditions and Small Craft Advisories are likely on Sunday. Surf and beach conditions will be good to ok on Saturday and OK to Cautious on Sunday. Sunday will bring gustier winds, rough surf with wave heights to 2-5 feet maybe even see some 3-6 foot waves, with higher tides and possibility of flooding! Water temperatures are in the upper 30’s to low 40’s for all waters. Temperatures did drop a couple of degrees with the colder air in place the beginning of the week. UV Index will be Low to Moderate at 1-3/15.

Low pressure is forecast to track from the Great Lakes to Northern New England on Friday. An associated cold front will move into the region Friday evening, then stall near DELMARVA. Another low pressure system is expected to track along this front and move near the area on Saturday and Saturday Night. This system may then be slow to move away during Sunday. High pressure will arrive late Monday before weakening Tuesday. The next cold front will move through the area late Tuesday. Weak high pressure is scheduled to briefly build in during Wednesday, with a warm front arriving ahead of low pressure on Thursday.

Next week looks dry right now with seasonable temperatures, maybe even slightly above average in the 40’s, 50’s and even some 60’s. Lows will be in the 30’s and 40’s. However, a cold front could bring the return of some cold air around the end of the week. Water, surf and beach conditions will be cautious on Monday, clearing for the rest of the week!

Have a great weekend!
