Tough night with Scott G, Cashin and Barney. We clammed the end of the incoming without a tap. Trolled around during the slack tide and anchored up again at dusk more shallow. During the outgoing a few skates showed up. The light rod takes a hit and a big Striper goes airborne out of the water and a big Splash, Cashin takes over and starts the battle. The Stripers peeling drag off the Corvalus 300 and Chris manages to turn it around. After a few minutes we see it in the darkness and with net ready I go for it. Before the net hits the water the fish turns and whilps it's tail for another drag screaming run away from the boat.
Chris manages to get it close again, we have sinker and half the leader out of the water. Net attempt #2 and same thing happens. This fish is determined to live. It swims foward this time below the boat near the running gear. It's hard to control on the light tackle in the strong current. Chris has it at the stern again for a third net attempt and POP! He pulls the hook,
The hard fighting Striper with a lot of heart gives us the one fin salute and swims into the darkness.
That was it for the evening and we head for the barn. A couple days of bad weather ahead will keep us home.
Good Luck
Eddie
