Finally I was able to get out and get back to fishing on Sunday. With all the great reports from Friday and Saturday I was hoping for a banner day but you know how that goes. My son Dan, his friend Sean and I pushed off at 6am and headed straight for the Great Kills area before she started to blow. Anchored on some great marks and started cracking, we kept missing a lot of light bites. When I put my rod down to shuck some clams a bass decided to take the bait and run. Caught a 24" short. A few minutes later Sean lands a schoolie too. After that flurry, a slow bite on skates. Made the move over to Round Shoal, again I land a 27" short with the assist of Rod Holder.
We trolled stretches on the edge of the Reach where we had a big fish on for quite a while until he became unbuttoned about 50' from the boat.
Not the day I was expecting but great to be back fishing
