Had Tommy and the boys out today for some bottomfishing...the goal was Ling and Cod so we headed to some nasty stuff in 60-75 ft. Got set up and had life right away...picked a few just keeper cod and then we got swarmed by the Blackfish...nice ones too....had them up to 9lbs. Shame the season closed or it would have been a stellar day. Decided to run out to 100 + feet to concentrated on the cod and ling...read no life at all....dropped blind on a spot to double check...not even a bergall tap.
Picked up and ran back shallow...no current so we floated it...caught 5 more cod, a lonely lost ling and a half dozen out of season sea bass that were all in the 18 inch + range. Should be good when that opens up too.
Nice to mix it up....but back to the Bass tomorrow!
