Reel Class Bluefish 10/21
« on: October 21, 2007, 08:43:38 PM »
Had Mike Striffler, "Bluefish" Steve and his buddy Ron aboard today.  Ran north yet again.
Found lots of bait, some small patches of birds working, but nothing too organized and NOTHING on top.  Jigged lots of taylor sized blues from Sea Girt to Sea Bright, with some real big "snapper" sized blues in the mix as well, some caught on jigs bigger then the actual fish.  Even jigged a few short seabass.

Ran all the way past the rocks, pretty much found the dead sea almost everywhere inside a few miles.

At 1:30, got a call from a fellow charter captain that he had some fish on top a few miles E of our inlet, so we raced there and got into a nice flurry of some much bigger bluefish in the 7-12# range.

Real tough day, lots of running.  Water is real off-colored today from the run-off from the rain, but there is bait almost EVERYWHERE.

Oh yeah, KUDOS to Mike who toughed it out all day... The big guy is suffering from a stress fracture in the foot and sucked it up all day, and fished his arse off!

Bob, to be honest, yesterday flat-out sucked.  Whatever direction ya went in, it wasn't happening!

I talked to guys that fished the Bay Head-IBSP stretch, they said the same thing:  dead sea!
