Its been a long time guys
« on: September 06, 2014, 10:39:30 AM »
Hey guys, it has been a real long time since I posted... getting married and 2 babys later. well here I am.. I still get the opportunity to fish, Mostly from Earle navy pier and the occasional headboat trip or charter..I have a couple of questions for you Yak guys..To make a long story short my wife and I have decided to take a seasonal camp site at Cedar Creek campground..I am looking to purchase a kayak and start off by exploring the cedar creek area.. I figure it would be a great way to get a few hours fishing in while everyone is still sleeping and keep the wife happy lol..I don't want to spot burn or anything like that im just wondering is the area productive for fluke stripers ect.. or do I need to head further south toward oyster creek and the inlet?? I am new to the kayaking game and I would like to get comfortable before venturing to far..and If any of you guys that fish the area would like to have a partner on occasion I would really like to tag along..Thanks guys..
I spend 90% of my time fishing, The rest I just waste..

Morning Flukedood.....If you can load the kayak on you car and drive to the end of cedar creek you will find Berkeley Island Park, free parking and easy to get in the water........From the park looking south you will see sedge grass on the tip of sloop point, this area holds small blue fish and Bass.......

You can also take the drive south on Rt.9 to the power plant and fish the mouth of the Creek, This would be my choice because I know the fishing is good right know for Bass,Bluefish and Fluke.......

Jump on Google Earth and check the areas out before you go.....get an idea before you go.

The areas I fish are the ones you said where a wast of time

Stop at Lacey Marine in Forked River.  There is a guy there that fishes the Barnegat Bay with a kayak all the time.

Excellent thanks.. I had actually planned to launch from the park.. is there any fluke around  cedar creek?? I guess Ill have to paddle and fish to find out for myself.. I do notice looking at some charts there seems to be some changes of depth and a channel that doesn't seem to far from the park..
