Home Made Lures
« on: October 27, 2007, 03:50:28 PM »
Looking for a web site with instructions and supplies for making your lures. Would like to try over the winter and fish with them in the spring for blues and bass. My uncle made his own lures but he passed on two years ago and his family threw out all of this stuff. He was a great surf fisherman and chased the bass each spring and fall along the hook. I wish I would have been into surf fishing while he was still with us. Well any help will be great thanks guys.

When I was a kid we used t make poppers from our Mothers Brom stick (they always screamed at us, neighborhod had short brooms, and the Moms had bad backs from bending over)

Still have three left and they work great.... TT^

Sounds like the mom's had their hands full with you guys. As far as the lures go I have no supplies or instructions or any tricks or methods. I can only remember some of the stuff on my uncle's work bench, treble hooks attached to eye hooks, small eye hooks, wood carving knives, chisels, paints, wood glue, plastic eyes, sand paper, stripes of lead. But were to start, how to shape the body and so one. Looking for any help!!!

You might want to PM member Kevin.  That's also his screen name on the site.  He recently posted lures that he made.  May be able to get some pointers from him also.
