5/30 livelining
« on: May 30, 2014, 11:26:56 PM »
Just got back from Belmar on a evening livelining trip on a NSPB... Unlike Monday, we got the bait quickly, but the fishing sucked. 2 fish between 16 people were caught, 22 and 26 lbs. Fortunately, the 26 lber was mine and won the pool on the last drift. Unfortunately, a few minutes after landing that 26 lber, I hooked a massive striper. I can't say a given weight but it was definitley in the 40+ range. Fought it for 2 minutes, those few minutes was it mostly just pulling more drag, I couldn't get anything on her. Then, the line snaps. I think there was a niche in the line. I figured maybe my drag was too tight, but the way she was pulling I think she would've snapped it by then if it was the drag.

All in all a good day, especially compared to how the rest of the boat did. But I'll never get over missing that big striper.
