FF ande I left Keyport around 10:30 am for one final day. Gorgeous day on the water. Loaded with peanuts, we went out to Keansburg, had some readings and droped some nuts.
Nothin' doin'.
Decided to head out towards the hook and ran into small flock of birds working right before the Amo Pier. Caught me 2 nice cocktails then some idiot in a blue Polar wasn't catching, so he thought it would be smart to troll right into the working birds.
You know the rest.
Headed out a bit further and had some decent readings so dropped 1 down and 1 free lined.
Battled and landed 4 of the elusive "AMberjack in NJ" like dogfish (decent fights anyway) and small several flocks of birds working very smal schools of fish. A boil here and a boil there, but not too much surface action.
Casted a few times and landed a couple more small cocktail (3lb) blues. Water was pretty damn clear and relatively calm and were able to see down a good bit for NJ waters.
Headed back in by 1:30pm and had the boat pulled for season. Next week go down and scrub her good and then let them wrap her for winter.
Couple more trips on pops boat and I am done for 2007 ;(
