July 4th a.m. Shark try
« on: July 04, 2014, 02:30:39 PM »
With the small weather window this morning...we pulled a last minute audible and decided to run deep and give sharking a try for a few hrs before it got crappy. Left dock at 0430 in slick calm conditions. Rounded the hook to a 3 ft ground swell but a nice ride out to the grounds. Water was very clear and a nice color. Set up on a temp break of 3 degrees...life all over the place...great slick going but only managed a Dusky Shark in the slick....got the light tackle out with a fresh fillet of mackeral and pretty much hand fed it to him....great fun for 10 minutes on a fluke rod!!!!! . Reset a mile away around 8 a.m.....mackeral all over the place....again, only a Dusky showing up in the slick.
Wind and rain started out there around 8:15....pulled lines in at 9:15 and had a sporty ride home into the wind just before Arthur showed.....didnt see another boat out today either way on the ride in and out.
Not a bad day even tho it was slow for us.
Happy 4th!

Its better to sit in a boat and think about God, than to sit in a church and think about fishing.
