Step 2 In Rod Rebuild
« on: March 10, 2015, 11:42:27 AM »
These are pictures of the completed Handle,Reel seat,Fore grip and thread check.

The Reel seat Butt handle and blank were all epoxied together at once to insure alignment and sturdiness of the connection. In step one I showed how I made the connection with a 7/16" dowel.

Next I installed the fore grip and finally the thread check at the same time w/epoxy. Although I pre measured the blank diameter at the fore grip location it was very tight to install using epoxy, it would have went much smoother using Rubber Cement. Next step will be under wrap and thread design.

The material that I used in this build was Alps Reel seat and thread check. The fore grip is a PacBay EVA 5.25" All of the guides are Alps including the tip top.

That rod was originally a two piece, It's going to be interesting to see if the action has changed when I fish it this season, since I made it one piece now and added another guide.
