A very unsettled weekend with mixed weather and water conditions. The weekend will have chances of showers and thunderstorms, with those chances increasing into Saturday Night and Sunday. Saturday Day will have the lowest chances of showers and Sunday will have some thunderstorms which could be on the stronger side. Highs will be in the upper 70’s to mid 80’s with overnight lows in the 60’s to low 70’s. Humidity will be moderate to high. Water conditions will have some gusty winds on Saturday Day subsiding throughout the day. Conditions will be borderline to good inshore, as seas could reach 3 feet on the ocean. Offshore waters could see 2-4 and 3-4 foot seas for the weekend. The weekend will be far from a wash or blowout, as showers will be scattered to widely scattered and seas for much of the area could fall below 3 feet and even at 3 feet, those heights are not problematic for many. Surf and beach conditions will be good with surf heights in the 1-3 and some 2-4 feet possible. Rip Current Risks will be Low, however a low risk does not mean NO risk and conditions could change daily, so be sure to follow local beach lifeguards. Water temperatures are steady in the upper 70’s with surf temperatures in the low 70’s. UV Index will be High to Very High at 6-9/15.
A stalling cold front will remain offshore into the weekend and a weak area of low pressure will also pass by to the east. Surface high pressure will influence the region over the weekend as it progresses northeastward. A slow moving cold front will approach on Monday, passing through the area Monday Night into Tuesday. High pressure will then follow for the middle to end of next week.
Monday and Tuesday will have chances of showers and thunderstorms before clearing out for the remainder of the week with high pressure and dry conditions. Highs will continue in the upper 70’s to mid 80’s, even some upper 80’s possible with overnight lows in the 60’s and 70’s. Water, surf and beach conditions look good most of the week, right now. Wednesday and Thursday could see some gustier winds and building seas, but only to 20 knots and seas to 3 feet.
The Atlantic Tropics are a bit active over the last few days. Hurricane Danny is a major hurricane out in the Atlantic approaching the Lesser Antilles with a path into the Greater Antilles. Danny is forecast to weaken over the next few days, as conditions deteriorate for maintaining or strengthening of tropical systems. Where this system heads from the Caribbean will depend on several factors and still bears watching. The NHC is also watching two other systems, one off of the US East Coast and another system emerging from Africa. This upward swing of activity is expected, as ocean waters are nearing their warmest and climatologically, tropical season is nearing its peak!
