A bright red sunrise greeted Tom and I as we headed out to work over the beaches at the hook looking for our favorite flatfish. The tide had already started in as we made the run South along the beach stopping along various areas finding many more Sea Robins than I would care to catch. There were many, many 17 1/2” Fluke that had to go back and near the Sandy Hook Channel the cow-nosed rays were thick causing many lost rigs, sinkers and line.
However I did manage to land two keeper Fluke at 18” and 20”. Tom’s giant Killies worked well as Sea Robin strips also accounted for many fish. The wind died as well as the bite around noon and we headed in over a flat bay. The marina was very hot as Tom filleted our catch. There were some really big racks in the dumpster from other fishermen. Pete
