Fishing Fort Lauderdale Happy Day Today

Fishing Fort Lauderdale with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Brian, the owner of Andrews Excavation Company, with good friend and co-worker, Ron, both from Pennsylvania chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale.  They were down in Fort Lauderdale on a project and had planned this fishing trip to coincide with the finishing of their project. They did their homework, researched the reviews of different fishing chartering businesses in Fort Lauderdale and decided to charter with the Topshotfishing team.

We had winds out of the east at 9-12 mph with seas running 2-4 ft., temperatures in the mid 80’s.  Brian and Ron were interested in catching big game sport fish so on the way out we stopped at T&T Bait to purchase a dozen live Goggle Eyes.

I headed south of Fort Lauderdale to compensate for the current that was going north.  In the past couple of days, we have been doing very well with catching Sailfish.  I set the two kites out with two live Goggle Eyes on each kite in 350 ft. of water.  Our first fish was a Black Tip Shark; Brain was the angler.  The second fish was another Black Tip Shark and Ron was the anger for this one.  We reset and our Sailfish made his appearance on the left short kite bait.  Hooked up!!  Brian was the angler, and fifteen minutes later was rewarded with the Sailfish, as Dave, our mate, wired the Sailfish.  Pictures were taken and the Sailfish was released.  I told Dave to reset quickly as I could see another Sailfish tailing down sea, so he did.  Sailfish – right long!!!  Ron was our angler on this one.  The Sailfish came out of the water showing his brilliant neon colors while tail-walking the surface of the water.  Twenty minutes later, Dave wired the fish for picture taking and was released to do battle again.

I relocated and set up in the same area.  This time a dorsal fin belonging to a Hammerhead Shark popped up on the left long kite bait.  Hooked up!!!  Ron was our anger and reeled in a 5 ft. Hammerhead Shark.  Fifteen feet from the boat, out of nowhere, a very large Dusky Shark appeared trying to eat the Hammerhead Shark.  At this time, Dave grabbed the 80 International and put out a Bonito slab.  Immediately, the Dusky Shark grabbed the Bonito and the battle began as Brian hopped into the fighting chair.  Dave released the Hammerhead Shark and now we were focused on the Dusky Shark.  Thirty-five minutes later, the Dusky Shark was brought to the side of the boat – pictures were taken and the Shark was released to do battle again.

It was time to head back as the tired anglers retired into the a/c salon to relax on the ride back to the dock at Bahia Mar, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
