A Wintry weekend possible with cautious to hazardous water conditions. Saturday will begin with a mix of sun and clouds. Clouds will increase later on Saturday becoming mostly cloudy to cloudy on Saturday Night. A wintry mix to snow is possible, with accumulation also possible. Precipitation will continue into Sunday becoming a snow to a wintry mix to rain in some places switching back over to snow once temperatures drop for Sunday Night. Starting Saturday Night, it looks to be a precipitation mess! Any snow will be very heavy and wet snow. On top of potential snow with the coastal storm/Nor’Easter, coastal flooding, high winds, high seas, rough surf, beach erosion are all possible. This system will continue into Monday. Water conditions will be cautious at best, with hazardous conditions likely later on Saturday and into Sunday with Small Craft Advisories, Gale Warnings, or even Storm Warnings with storm force winds. These forecasts for water conditions are on the very conservative side and not taking into account a potentially strong coastal storm! Surf and beach conditions will also be cautious with gusty winds, high and rough surf, higher than normal tides, and beach erosion! Water temperatures are steady in the 40’s. UV Index will be Low to Moderate at 1-4/15.
An area of low pressure will strengthen near the Maine and Canadian Border on Thursday Night and move into the Canadian Maritimes Friday. This low will pull a cold front across the area Friday Afternoon into Friday Night. High pressure will move to the north this weekend as a coastal low develops to the south and strengthens off the East Coast. This low will move northward just offshore of the East Coast through Sunday, bringing wintry weather to the area Saturday Night through Sunday Night. Strong northwest flow will be in place on Monday, before high pressure builds across the East Coast Tuesday. A warm front is expected to lift north of the area Tuesday Night.
A roller coaster of a week starting off with snow possibilities on Monday then clearing for Tuesday and for the rest of the week. High temperatures will start off in the 40’s on Monday and Tuesday with overnight lows in the 20’s and 30’s. By Wednesday highs will get into the 60’s and then 70’s for the end of the week with overnight lows back into the 40’s and 50’s. Water, surf and beach conditions will be cautious to hazardous most of the week at this point.
