SeaHawk 11/28 Toggin
« on: November 28, 2007, 09:29:06 PM »
Decided to try the SeaHawk out of Perth Amboy today.  Weather turned out great as the early winds dropped off in the afternoon.

Long trip to the fishing grounds....3 drops. Looked like 10 keepers for the 10 passengers and one nice sized ling.

Still trying to get the hang of togging, but managed 8 shorts....no keepers on green crabs.

Pool fish was about 4 lbs.

Nice day on the water with a nice group of passengers.  Captain Mike put forth a good effort today. t^

Nice going...

If todays bird activity were any indication there should be a ton of fish out there for the boaters.  I only wish that bait were within casting range.

Sometimes you just gotta wait through what you think is a good bite which is really the lil toytogs hitting the bait until one of it's bigger brethren decides to come over and investigate.  Tog'n can be very, very frustrating.

Just go with the story that the smaller ones are harder to hook anyways t^ ;D

Did speak with a bunddy that was out as well, I know atleast 12 keepers came up for the group of 4 that were out that day TT^

A few quit early as they were losing too many rigs...gotta accept that when tog'n though ;)

This was the third time I've been out togging.

It is definitely a challenge.  I've learned to be patient through the bergall bites, and wait for the "tug". Not sure how to be patient for the bigger ones to take the bait away from the little guys.

Like fishing for any species, it takes time and experience. Just got to put the time in under different bite conditions.

No problem with loosing rigs, part of the challenge and "cost of doing business" with Mr. Mrs. Tog.
