So, more settled, but heat and humidity could bring some showers and thunderstorms both days. Saturday will have chances of scattered showers and thunderstorms all day with showers possible into Sunday Day. These showers will be mainly across northern areas, but an isolated shower and even a thunderstorm is possible. Highs will continue in the 80’s and 90’s with overnight lows in the 60’s and 70’s. Humidity will be Moderate to High with dew points in the upper 60’s and 70’s making it sticky and uncomfortable. Water conditions will be mostly good with just some cautious conditions starting late on Sunday and into Sunday Night. Even these conditions will only see gusts to 20 knots and seas to 4 feet. Surf and beach conditions will be good with a Low Risk of Rip Currents. Late Sunday and Sunday Night will see ok to cautious surf conditions. Water temperatures are steady in the 70’s. UV Index will be Moderate to Very High at 3-10/15.

A surface trough will remain in our region through Friday morning. Low pressure and a frontal boundary will probably form over the Mid Atlantic States on Friday and drift across New Jersey Saturday. A cold front will cross the region Saturday night. High pressure will begin to build into the region late Sunday, moving over the region on Monday and Tuesday, and then move offshore on Wednesday.

Next week looks mostly dry with continued hot temperatures. Monday looks to be the coolest at mid 80’s, then upper 80’s to low 90’s for the rest of the week inland. Shore temperatures are only slightly cooler. Overnight lows are in the 60’s and 70’s. So far, water, surf and beach conditions look borderline to cautious for Monday and then good for the rest of the week.

Atlantic Tropics are quiet. I will note that Ocean and Gulf temperatures are in the 70’s to 90’s. These are very high, with solid 80’s along the Southeastern Coast. Let’s hope the tropics stay quiet and suppressed.

Have a great weekend and thanks for reading!

« Reply #1 on: July 09, 2016, 03:56:07 PM »
There is a Generalized, Marginal, and Slight Risk of Severe Weather today, mainly for western parts of the state. Showers and thunderstorms are possible today across the state, with some of these storms strong to severe. Storms will be capable of heavy rains, dangerous lightning, damaging winds, hail, and even tornadoes.

Be aware of changing weather conditions and have a way of receiving weather alerts!
