A more settled week with a return of heat and humidity with water conditions still churned up, but improving. As the unofficial end to Summer took place on Labor Day, late Summer fishing will be on hand. The last few days have felt like late Summer, but by the middle of the week, Summer heat and humidity will return. Showers and even some thunderstorms are possible on Tuesday and Wednesday. These look to be scattered, at best, although widely scattered more locally, is possible. Thursday and Friday look to be mostly dry. Highs will increase, starting in the low to mid 80’s for Tuesday, then into the mid 80’s and low 90’s. Humidity will increase to moderate the moderate to high. Overnight lows will range from low 60’s for northern areas up into the mid 70’s at the shore. Hermine really churned up the waters and beaches. Water conditions will start off cautious and hazardous for Tuesday, although southern waters will be better than northern conditions, as Hermine continues to move to the northeast. By Wednesday conditions will be good for rivers and bays and cautious for inshore ocean waters. Thursday rivers and bays will be good, but borderline during the day and cautious at night for inshore waters. Friday will have good conditions for rivers and bays and then borderline for inshore ocean waters. Midshore to offshore waters will be hazardous then cautious most of the week. Later in the week could be better. Surf conditions will be hazardous still on Tuesday with surf heights 5-10 feet with a High Risk of Rip Currents. Wednesday will have cautious surf conditions with surf heights 3-6 feet on average and a High Risk of Rip Currents. Thursday and Friday will be borderline to cautious with surf heights 2-4 feet and 1-3 feet with a Low to Moderate Risk of Rip Currents. Many beaches will be unguarded! This is not the week to swim at unguarded beaches. Be careful even in the wash. Beach conditions will likely be hazardous as well due to erosion and debris. Many beaches may not even be open yet, so check before going. Water temperatures are in the low 70’s. UV Index will be Moderate to High at 3-7/15.

The remnants of Hermine will continue to churn up the waters east of New Jersey through Wednesday and possibly Thursday. The effects of Hermine will be felt mainly at the sea shore and over the ocean waters. A weak frontal system over the area on Friday will have little effect on unseasonably warm or hot temperatures late in the week. A stronger cold front is forecast to cross the area Saturday night, followed by cooler temperatures and high pressure building in early next week.

The weekend will start off with chances of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday, then dry for Sunday. Highs will be in the mid 80’s to low 90’s with 60’s and 70’s for lows. Saturday will be the hotter of the two days. Humidity will be moderate to high. Water, surf and beach conditions will be good on Saturday and borderline for Sunday. Sunday could go either way, but winds will be gustier right now. Honestly, with a storm still affecting the forecasts, the weekend forecast could be very skewed. Also, while surf conditions may be good or back to normal, there is the high possibility that beach conditions will be dangerous with the erosion. Hermine has changed the structure of the surf and knowing that sand has shifted and changed and the possibility of debris, is important. Be careful on the sand!

Atlantic Tropics are quiet.

Have a great week and thanks for reading!
