Garmin GHP Reactor Autopilot
« on: December 10, 2016, 08:12:20 PM »
Is anyone using this system (GARMIN 010-00705-01 GARMIN GHP COMPACT REACTOR AUTOPILOT STARTER KIT) or have experience? It says it is not suggested for use while fishing and trolling at low speeds. What is your experience with it? How difficult are they to install? I have a 7610 and 8212 can I control everything from those units? Is it compatible with twins?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Hey Freddy Boy
Save your money!!

Use one of these--my buddy has the this one BUT!! is running twin 150's on a 27 foot and works fine down to about 3 kts and you really want the shadow drive!!!!! if you get this one you still may need a bigger pump to drive "your" engines. If that starter kit has the same pump as the as this  you should be ok--then you have to run the pilot off your plotters  with no mod. for the pilot--( but get the shadow drive!!!hope this helps!!

GHP Compact Reactor™ Hydraulic Autopilot with GHC™ 20 and Shadow Drive™ Technology Pack
Part Number: 010-00705-03
$1,999.99 USD

And as Eddie posted if you can get the TR-1 that would be the way to go--all done no problems!!

Also that compass ball I.E. heading sensor keeps your boat on a true course.

That's getting old .........  As I wish I can fish more than I do and make it off shore in the propper weather windows that include the  times I can afford to leave my desk to not make a dollar for the day while my wife works 40 hours a week and head off shore.  it is very nice to hit one button and sit back and let the Phyllis Ann bring us home 40 miles in a straighter line i could ever hold..  While the weekends come and the family wants to spend the day on the boat..  For me.. It really doesn't matter what I'm doing on the boat.. Sitting, Driving.. Fishing.. Sitting in a beach chair and looking at it..  MY favorite is trolling for tuna offshore on great weather days.. but they don't happen much.. But Much more than people that don't have a 25' boat and no option to even have a chance to do said..  So I do Consider myself fortunate..   And this is my medication speaking...

So.. take it as you wish.. ;D

And a bad week to be a telemarketer calling my phone this week...  Having some head ache issue.. steroids are in the mix..
