Cold and wintery weekend with mostly cautious water conditions. Saturday will be dry and cold with gusty winds. Highs will only be in the 30’s with overnight lows in the teens. Sunday will have rain and snow by mid-day with highs and lows equal in the 30’s and then warming into the overnight. Most parts of the state will only see rain or a wintry mix with no accumulation, but northern and western parts of the state could see accumulations of snow and ice. Some areas may even see 4-6 inches, but that would be very northwestern areas. Water conditions will be cautious with winds to 25 knots and seas to 6 feet inshore and 8 feet offshore. Surf conditions will be borderline with gusty winds, but surf heights will only be to 4 feet. Water temperatures are in the 40’s for rivers and bays and 50’s for ocean waters. UV Index will be Low at 1-2/15.

High pressure will build into the region through Sunday as low pressure over eastern Canada moves away. Then, low pressure will develop over the central plains on Sunday and move toward the Great Lakes on Monday. This low will bring a warm front through
the area on Sunday night and a cold front across the Mid-Atlantic on Monday. Yet another cold front is expected to move across the area Tuesday night or Wednesday and a low may form along this front. A strong west to northwest flow is expected to develop by the end of the week as high pressure tries to build.

The week will have rain/snow chances on Monday and Wednesday. The rest of the week is dry so far. Highs will be in the 50’s on Monday, then back down into the 30’s for the rest of the week. Overnight lows will be in the teens to 20’s. Water conditions will be mixed from good to hazardous, mainly on Monday and Wednesday.

Have a great weekend and thanks for reading!
