Fishing Fort Lauderdale Topshotfishing Happy Day Today

Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Mitch and Carol Freemen, along with their daughter, Barbara, from Pennsylvania, vacationing in Fort Lauderdale got in touch with the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  As the Freemen’s boarded the boat, I asked them what type of fishing they wanted to do.  They advised me that this was the first time they are chartering a fishing boat – catching any type of fish would be great.

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock at the Bahia Mar Yacht center, lines were in 120 ft. of water by the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore.  If you venture off another ¼ of a mile from here, you will find yourself in 500 ft. of water due to our extreme drop off.  We started out trolling with two #8 plainers each with sea witches and a double hooked bonito strip behind them.  For surface baits, we went with two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips.   During this time, Dave, our mate, explained to the Freemen’s the know-how and technique in bringing in their fish.

As we trolled the reefs in Fort Lauderdale, we zig-zagged in and out ranging from 80 ft. out to 210 ft. of water.  Barbara was our first angler and she reeled in a Bonito – her first fish ever caught.  Carol took pictures of the event.  From there we kept trolling – all the Freemen’s took turns bringing in their catches – a total of two Kingfish, four Bonitos and two Tunas.

It was now time to head back to the dock.   The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
