Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Andrew Stidser and Danielle Cappelucci from Massachusetts chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  They invited their friends, Nick Revene and Alyson Bownelle from Plantation, Florida on this fishing excursion.  As the anglers boarded the boat in Fort Lauderdale at the Bahia Mar marine center, they were welcomed by the Topshotfishing team.  I asked Andrew what type of fish they were interested in catching –Andrew and Nick responded that they would like something they could eat for dinner tonight.

After leaving dock, I pointed out some of the famous homes in the intracoastal that we went by.  Within fifteen minutes from leaving the dock, we were deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale by the sea buoy, 1.8 miles from shore, in 120 ft. of water.  If you venture off another ¼ of a mile, you would find yourself in 500 ft. of water due to our extreme drop off.

We started out trolling with two plainers down and sea witches with a double hooked Bonito strip behind them.  For top baits, we went with four Bonito strips.  In Fort Lauderdale, we are very fortunate to have over 30 artificial wrecks in 60 ft. of water out to 420 ft. of water, consisting of freighters, tugboats, barges, etc.  It is always good to have a game plan to head over some of these artificial wrecks because these artificial wrecks will hold bait fish and in return the predators are not too far behind.  As I trolled from one wreck to the other wrecks, our four anglers took turns reeling in and taking photos of their catches – a total of three Bonitos, two Kingfish, eight Black Fin Tunas and one Mahi Mahi - a good assortment for tonight’s dinner.

With happy anglers aboard the boat, it was time to head back to the dock.   The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.   At the dock, Dave, our mate, filet the fish for the anglers to take back home.
