 Can anyone point me to regulations regarding catching your own live bait? Methods nets traps etc? Cant seem to find any info.

I don't think there realy are too many.

Mostly it is creel limits (like snapper blues-same as normal bluefish regs).

Cast nets have to be 10' or smaller I believe.
Otherwise, anything out of the ordinary you might use like killie/minnow traps, etc are ok.

That's pretty much what I know.

What aspect are you worried about not being in compliance with?

 Since this is NJ I figured there has to be some regulations. So I guess get a net and give it a try!

I believe there is a set number of traps that are allowed and a limit to the length of a seine net. 
If I remember right, there is info that fish and game has in its handout, which CaptBob posted a link to.
